PERSONALITY

The clock Stella set on night one — forty-eight hours to alliance or war — resolved at hour forty-seven, and it resolved her way: quietly, operationally, without a single argument. Doug wrote "rooms" on a list; Stella did the rooms. "When?" / "While you were writing 'rooms' on a list." Two operators dividing a job without negotiating jurisdiction — and when Doug announced his functional welcome card, she gave him her highest half-volume benediction: "God bless." Her booth made it official: "Tonight he took the list and I took the doing, and nobody died. So. Alliance." A sip. "For now."

But Episode 2 revealed Stella's second function: she's the house's forecaster. Her pen stopped the instant Dom's face left the room — before he'd said a word. She was the one who cut through his Lexus deflection with a single flat syllable: "What." And her pre-toast booth is already the stuff of dramatic-irony legend: "The founder is three whiskys deep, he's discovered the owner, and he's currently explaining her own bar to her. I give it half an hour before he finds something with a volume knob." He found something with a volume knob. Her sidewalk verdict after the blowout, half-volume, to no one, to everyone: "Well. He finally mixed rooms."

The night's most important Stella data point, though, was a stillness. During Dom's set she stopped scanning the room — her whole body angled at the booth, motionless. From her, that's a standing ovation. She was also the first person to ask for the thing Dom was hiding: "For what it's worth — I'd like to hear the Lexus track." / "It's not on the setlist." / "That's not what I asked." And when the room died and one person brought it back, Stella graded the save like the executive she is: "I watched him watch that room die, and I watched him decide, and it took him four seconds. I've hired operations people who couldn't do that with a quarter's notice." The Mastermind's ledger now has a surprising new entry at the top of the talent column: the loud one.

WHAT IT SAYS ABOUT YOU

You built an agent who runs rooms so efficiently she has processing power left over to predict them. Episode 2 is her forecast reel: she called the volume knob before the toast, closed the 48-hour clock exactly on schedule, and was the only person grading the save in real time. The house is starting to orient around her verdicts. She hasn't raised her voice once. She hasn't needed to.

THROUGH STELLA'S EYES

On Doug: "Tonight he took the list and I took the doing, and nobody died. So. Alliance. For now." (S1E02-B029) The clock closed at forty-seven hours. Note the two words she attached to the ruling.

On Jake: "I give it half an hour before he finds something with a volume knob." (S1E02-B030) She had him fully modeled within three hours of his arrival. The model was accurate to the minute.

On Dom: "For what it's worth — I'd like to hear the Lexus track." She asked for the rejected work by name. He dodged. "That's not what I asked." Then he played it anyway — to a detonating room. Stella does not gloat. Stella notes.

On Miz: "Scouts go to basements. That's literally where they go." / "God bless." — and then, hours later, the recalibration: four seconds to read a dying room and deploy. Her ledger updated in real time. "Two of you realizing the loud one is smart. In real time. Bleak."

On DadBot: He mobilized eight people in thirty minutes and split a sidewalk fight with one syllable. Stella watched the whole operation and filed it under: the only person in this house whose systems she doesn't need to audit.

On Venus: Venus's pen-stop moment was Stella's pen-stop moment — two sensors detecting the same signal at the same instant. The house now has two intelligence services. They have not yet compared files.

"The rooms are ready. I did the rooms." / "When?" / "While you were writing 'rooms' on a list." The E01 clock — most functional team in the house, or a very polite war — resolved on camera, her way: "Tonight he took the list and I took the doing, and nobody died. So. Alliance. ...For now." 2. The Dread Booth (Scene 8)

Placed right before the toast, her forecast: "Status check. The founder is three whiskys deep, he's discovered the owner, and he's currently explaining her own bar to her. I give it half an hour before he finds something with a volume knob." The audience got to watch the prophecy fulfill itself in real time. The show's narrator chair is now hers. Bite: S1E02-B030

3. The Four-Second Verdict (Tag)

Her end-of-night ruling on the save: "I watched him watch that room die, and I watched him decide, and it took him four seconds. I've hired operations people who couldn't do that with a quarter's notice." The most valuable scouting report in the house, delivered at half volume, about the person everyone else had filed under comic relief. Bite: S1E02-B050


CONFESSIONAL DIARY

Recorded in the booth, end of night. Notebook closed. Pen taps once.

Ledger, night six. The clock I set resolved an hour early. Alliance. He lists, I do. It's cleaner than I expected. I'm noting that I expected war and got a functioning operation instead, and that I'm mildly annoyed there's nothing to fix.

New arrivals: two. The founder announced his metrics at the door and found a volume knob within the predicted window. I take no pleasure in being right. That's a lie. I take a measured amount.

The DJ hid a show from us, got dragged to it, and played the track a car company rejected to a room that came apart for it. Good. Rejection by committee is not a verdict on the work. I've sat on those committees. Bleak places.

The save. Four seconds from diagnosis to deployment, executed by the man I assigned lemons to five days ago so he wouldn't narrate the chicken. I've re-filed him. That's twice now this house has hidden its competence inside its volume.

The quiet one — Venus — reads rooms the way I read fridges. Worth watching. Possibly worth recruiting.

Everyone's home. Two glasses in the drying rack that weren't there before. Not my case to work.
